"You're playing with fire, I want you to know."
—Louis to Tigris about the wizard-mafia

The name Tigris is a Latin name of Irish and Gaelic origin. The name itself translates to the word tiger.

Tigris' middle name, Lucrezia, is a name of Italian origin, derived from the Roman name 'Lucretius'. The meaning behind the name is debatable, but is thought to come from the Latin word 'lucrum', meaning profit and wealth.

The surname Thorn derives from an English and Danish background. It is a topographic name for someone who lived by a thorn bush or hedge (Old English, Old Norse þorn).

Tigris: Step aside, Maisie, or there'll be violence.
Maisie: I choose violence.

Tigris: You want to be part of this life? Do you want to be powerful? This is what being part of our family is like; lying on a bed of weeds, ripping them out by the root, one by one, before they strangle you in your sleep.

Tigris: Monsignor, I don't mean to criticise, but it sounds like you're giving up.
Monsignor: We can't force him on the path of righteousness. He himself has got to want to make the journey.
Tigris: Well, then, what do we do? Just stand by whilst he starts dating boys? And by the way, the correct term is not gay, it's sodomy.
Grace: We are in the middle of dinner.
Tigris: So?
Grace: So, can you at least wait until dessert before calling your son a sodomite?
