It must get better. The way we treat and look after each other. It must get better somehow.

— Sylvie to Musidora

Upon attending Beauxbatons Academy of Magic at the age of eleven, Sylvie was Sorted into Rouerie, the House of kindness and cleverness.

Sylvie is a name of French origin, the French variation of the Latin name Sylvia, meaning is "from the forest".

Marie is a French cognate of Mary, which is derived from the Hebrew Miryām, a name of debated meaning. Many believe it to mean "sea of bitterness" or "sea of sorrow."

The name Laura is derived from the Latin laurus (laurel, an evergreen shrub or tree whose leaves were woven into wreaths by the ancient Greeks to crown victors in various contests).

The French surname Coquellin is of nickname origin, deriving from a physical or personal characteristic of the original bearer of the name. The name Coquellin is derived from the French term "coq" and was used to refer to one who was confident or "cocky".
