Harvey Patterson: "Well, maybe if you didn't hate so many people—"
Helena: "On the contrary, actually. I don't hate anyone, nor do I give any reason for anyone to hate me. They create their own little dramas out of pure jealousy."

"You're a nice boy, Elliot. I'd hate to see you dragged down as well."

The name Helena is a girls name of Greek origin meaning "bright, shining light". The name is borne in Greek legend by the beautiful wife of the king of Sparta. Her abduction by the Trojan prince Paris sparked off the Trojan War.

The surname Kirby is an English habitational name from any of the numerous places in northern England called Kirby or Kirkby. It comes from the Old Norse kirkja meaning ("church") + býr meaning ("settlement").

Harvey: You know I'm no good when it comes to magic.
Helena: That's not true. You're older than Jamie, so you know a few good spells. You're soft and liberal, and definitely lack coordination in your feet, and your limbs are far too big for your body, but you're not entirely useless. Take it from me, I've had to put up with you for six years.

Elliot: How do we get rid of Jamie?
Helena: Maybe we should start with finding a boyfriend who isn't an utter pantywaist.

Harvey: What exactly are you training me for? To kill him?
Helena: You would probably get thank you cards!

Helena: How else am I meant to react after finding out my boyfriend of three years has been engaging in backdoor shenanigans with Billy Elliot himself?

Helena: I think it might be time for me to stop looking for happiness in the same place I lost it.

  • It is said by Harvey that Helena chooses not to attend Quidditch matches unless Ravenclaw are playing, as she thinks none of the other Houses are worth supporting and she has the tendency to get into arguments with others.
